Thanks tackletour.com for the great product review on BasStar’s new Randy Mcabee crankbait.

When it comes to crankbait fishing at the tournament level nobody does it better than FLW Pro Randy McAbee. Randy has credited a number of his wins to crankbaits and has now teamed up with Basstar to create his own signature crank which is appropriately called the “Big Mac.”
Impressions: The Basstar Big Mac makes use of a number of the company’s previous innovations including a dimple surface design and Spintech treble hooks. In profile the Big Mac probably most resembles a Norman DD22 only bigger. Though both lures are 3″ in length the Big Mac features a larger more prominent lip design and weighs 3/8oz. more than the Norman DD22 making it a full 1oz. in weight.
Look out for Randy Mcabee’s new Big Mac Crank Baits. We at Basstar Inc, are proud to provide anglers with the most innovative and performance best crank baits. Time for crank bait season!!

Ask your local dealer or you can now order the newly designed FLW Pro Angler Randy Mcabee’s “Big Mac” crankbait series. Dives shallow depths of 18-24 feet if your not looking for the deep diving crank baits like the Basstar Dredger. Provides the same golf ball dimple body look and now comes equipped with the signature rotating treble hooks: Spintech Hooks.
Thanks Douglas Nielsen of the Las Vegas Review-Journal for the article on Spintech Hooks. Here’s a quote from the article: “Have you had one of those days when the fish are hitting your bait but you just can’t seem to land one? Chances are the near misses have a lot to do with your terminal tackle, especially the hook at the end of your line…The second new hook design that showed promise is the Spintech hook by Basstar. Spintech hooks look like any other treble hooks you have dangling from your favorite lures, but these, as their name implies, spin 360 degrees and do so without binding. The three barbs are fastened to a tube through which the straight hook shank passes. That tube, in turn, spins around the shank or “line tie pin.”

The Dredger from BasStar Bait Co. has
a lead-rimmed diving lip that adds casting
weight and produces a diving angle necessary
to reach the 30-foot “magic zone”

On behalf of the Connecticut Bass Federation Nation and myself. Thank you for sending us a Superior product. I used these hooks on my Lucky Craft Crank bait this weekend Aug. 15,2010 in the Final Federation Tournament on the CT. River. I won the event with 12.22 lbs and never lost a fish. These hooks are a great asset to any fisherman. With the amount of Topwaters and crankbaits I have I will need to do a lot of replacing. As one of the Top anglers in CT I will definitely spread the word.
Thank you again
DAve
I just wanted to thank you for the spintech hooks you supplied the 2010 Ct Bass Federation State Team, I used the hooks today & I did not lose one fish. Normally I would lose about 3 or 4 per fishing trip. This hook could really increase your chances for winning more Tournaments!!!!
thank You

DREDGER Chartreuse Blue Back Available Now!!!
Basstar introduces the worlds first infinite diving crankbait, Dredger comes equipped with a built in rotating hook system for both the belly and tail hook along with the golf ball dimples on the body for a different reflection underwater. What makes the DREDGER different from other deep diving crankbaits in the market is that we have figured out a way to internally and externally balance the weight so that the bait will dive straight down to any preferred depth. The Dredger will dive straight down with no spiraling or line twists. Once the Dredger reaches its depth the bait will stand straight up keeping the hooks away from the bottom reducing chances of hang up. Unlike traditional crankbaits where the bait will only reach its target depth zone for a short time, The Dredger will dive to its target depth from where the bait lands and stay in the zone all the way back for the full retrieve. The Dredger has a fall rate that is equivalent to a jig, which means you can now throw this bait next to boat docks and pilings and watch the bait fall perfectly parallel to its target. The Dredger Crankbait has been producing a lot of bites anywhere from 40-60 feet but will dive to 100+ feet in depth if needed. With a bait so innovative and new the Dredger crankbait has been the bait to talk about for both Saltwater and Freshwater anglers.

A new application for your iphone and ipad
Basstar is happy to be part of The Freshwater Lure Selector. A new application that is designed to be a reference for whatever you may already have in your own tackle box. Choose the best lure according to the two most important factors: water depth and water clarity. Light conditions are the third most important factor, and there’s a good rule of thumb that applies to most of the criteria used for the Lure Selector: Use bright colors on bright days, and darker colors on overcast days. With the Lure Selector you can visit our website and be directed to where our lures can be purchased.

SpinTech Treble Hooks
Fish on! you cry. The
rod is bouncing.
Oh no, you think. The
line went slack.
What happened?
You reel up and check.
The hook’s still there.
Spit hook.
Bummer.
Nothing you can do
about that.
Or is there?
SpinTech Treble Hooks, from the BassStar Bait Company, are built to reduce the chances of the fish throwing the hook.
The treble hooks are the world’s first that spin, the company says.
Typical treble hooks experience leverage and torque that can pry the hook out of the fish’s mouth, it says.
The SpinTech’s rotation is meant to eliminate the locking problem, repositioning with the changing fight, providing more fluid control over
the fish.
The pin that the line is tied to drops directly down the center of the
treble hook, remaining balanced, promoting maximum performance, BassStar says.
SpinTech Treble Hooks are available for both freshwater and saltwater fishing in a standard metallic finish or a red finish.
The hooks are available in sizes 6, 4, 2, 1, 1/0,2/0 and 3/0, and more sizes are planned.
Fish on! you cry.
Now the fish is more likely to stay on.

We at Basstar are excited to be honored with the Innovation Award by Tackle Tour. We have been a fan of the independent site that over the year has grown to be the place where you can find answers and recommendations for all your fishing needs.
A little taste of the review
Conclusion: Basstar has a number of innovative baits including their topwater baits as well as the Dredger weighted lip deep diving crankbait, so it is really no surprise that the company came up with the clever SpinTech hooks. These innovative hooks bring a feature made popular on big swimbaits to any hardbait that anglers choose to put the SpinTech hooks on. The design of these hooks is both clever and well implemented and the hooks not only help keep fish pinned but also are able to hold up well to abuse over the long term. Will anglers that already loyal to
one brand of hook be willing to try the SpinTech hooks? They certainly are worth a look and arming your favorite lure with these hooks only increases your chance of landing fish, making that lucky lure even more lethal. It is hard to innovate in hook design but Basstar manages to do just that with the inventive SpinTech hooks, a worthy recipient of our Innovation Award.

Some anglers let their fishing rods do all their talking. Venerable Arkansas Elite Series pro is a saavy stick on the Elite Series but does a lot of his talking via his laptop. He is one of the most, if not the most, active Elite angler on the net and his results are starting to pay dividends.
We also want to thank Clark Reehm for joining the Basstar & Spintech Family!!

The IGFA announced its decision today. The 22 pound, 4.97 ounce largemouth caught in Japan by Manabu Kurita will be shown as a tie. George Perry’s bass that held the record for over 75 years will be considered a tie although it weighed 22 pounds, 4 ounces. The IGFA requires a new record be beat by two ounces to be considered as breaking the old record.
This rule may not make sense, but the reason is scales are much more accurate now than in the past, and most scales in the past were spring loaded and showed pounds and ounces, not tenths and hundredths of ounces and pounds. So it is possible George Perry’s bass weighed as much as Manabu Kurita since the weight was probably rounded off to the nearest ounce.
